You might know a domain name simply as the Web address or
“.COM.” When someone types a domain name into a Web browser, the requested Web
page opens. For example, the domain name www.yourpersonaldomainname.com locates
an Internet address for “yourpersonaldomainname.com.”
A Top-Level Domain (TLD) is the part of the domain name located
to the right of the dot (“.”). The most common TLD in use today is .COM,
closely followed by .NET and .ORG. There are several other popular top-level
domains, including .BIZ, .INFO, .NAME, .WS and .MOBI.
Top-level domains have certain guidelines attached, but are
generally available to any registrant, anywhere in the world. Exceptions are
restricted TLDs (rTLDs)— which include .BIZ and .NAME—that require the
registrant to represent a certain type of entity, or to belong to a certain
community. For example, the .NAME TLD is available strictly to individuals.
A top-level domain can also be of geographic significance and
only available to registrants in the locale defined by the TLD. These are
called country-code TLDs (ccTLDs) and include such top-level domains as .US
(United States), .EU (Europe), .TV (Tuvalu), .CC (Cocos Islands), .DE (Germany),
.JP (Japan), .BE (Belgium), .UK (United Kingdom), .NZ (New Zealand) and .CN
(China).
Tip: If the .COM you want to register is already taken, you can
check to see if it’s available with an alternate TLD. You may also want to
consider registering all or some of the more common TLDs of the same domain
name in order to protect your brand, your site or yourself from someone else
with your brand or name in mind.
To find out which TLDs we currently offer, or for more
information on registering domain names, please visit our Web site at www.1websitesolution.com. Visit today and you can get a 1-year, new domain name,
transfer or renewal for only $1.99* with each and every new, non-domain product
you buy—no limit!
High-priced registrars like Network Solutions® and
Register.com try to maintain their business on a flimsy foundation: the
lingering misconception that you have to pay $30-35 to register your domain
name with a quality outfit. This simply is not true.
Every day, thousands of sensible, informed buyers—individuals,
families, businesses small and large and speculators—come to One Website
Solution for low prices and premium value. In fact, a new domain name is
registered with One Website Solution every 1.3 seconds.
One Website Solution is an ICANN-accredited registrar for .COM,
.NET, .ORG, .INFO, .BIZ and .US domain names.
We were able to achieve this exciting milestone thanks to the
help of our loyal, smart customers. Our reputation for industry-best service
and value has kept them coming back for more and led them to refer us to their
friends, family members and business associates.
One Website Solution customers register their domains for prices
up to 70% less than the competition, and receive FREE with every domain

State-of-the-art, “best-of-breed” systems
·
And much more
Simply follow these five easy steps:
Step 1: Check Domain Name Availability
See if the
name you want is taken, and what your options are if it is.
Step 2: Select Length of Your Registration
Register
your domain from one year up to 10.
Step 3: Create Your Contact Information
Important
when the time comes to renew your domain name.
Step 4: Select From Hosting Options
To put your
domain name on the Internet, you first need a host.
Step 5: Confirm Your Registration Details
Once you complete registration, how you use
your new domain name is up to you. Here are a few of the most common options:
·
Get a personalized email address. An
email account can be a great way to put your domain to use, and gives you a
personalized address that friends, family and business contacts will easily
remember and associate directly with you.
·
Put your Web site on the Internet. If
your site design is complete, you will need to acquire a hosting account to
upload your site on the Internet. If you have not built your Web site, there
are several easy and affordable options for you to quickly put together a
professional, quality site (see Section 2—Building a Web Site).
·
Launch your own blog. Establish your online
presence without a traditional Web by creating your own blog. All One Website
Solution domain names come with free, easy-to use blogging tools to let you
take advantage of this popular format, without additional software or
experience.
·
Forward domain names that are similar to your primary domain
name. The more domain names you register, the better. You’ll prevent
others from registering a similar domain name to yours. What to do with all
these names? Forward them to your main domain name!
·
Turn your parked domain into cash! It’s
easy with our Parking Service Partners. Whether you have one domain or a
growing portfolio, parking can turn those domains into a cash generator! Each
time someone clicks on advertising that generates revenue on your parked pages,
you share in the revenue.
·
Wait. Maybe you haven’t decided what to do with your new domain name.
There’s no rush. You can leave it parked with One Website Solution for the
length of your registration.
Search and register your domain name by visiting www.1websitesolution.com.
You may transfer your domain name from your current registrar to
One Website Solution at any time (within the restrictions set by ICANN® and
your current registrar).
Note:
ICANN regulations prohibit transferring a domain name that has been registered
or transferred within the last 60 days.
One Website Solution offers a fast, automated, risk-free domain
transfer thanks to an innovative Rapid Transfer System™ that spares you steps and
saves you time (transfers are often completed in five days or less, but may
take up to seven days to complete).
There is also a professional Transfer Concierge available to
assist you personally, 24/7, in the transfer process. Best of all, any time
remaining on your existing registration transfers with your domain, plus you
receive a FREE one-year extension.
Call a
Transfer Concierge anytime! 1-480-505-8866
Domain name transfers may only be initiated once acceptance of the
transfer agreement is recorded, payment is made, and the administrative contact
has responded positively giving permission to transfer the domain name. Your
transfer is risk-free. If it fails to go through for any reason at all, One
Website Solution will refund your fee, no questions asked.
Follow these easy steps to ensure a smooth and timely transfer:
Step 1: Purchase a transfer from our Web site by
visiting www.1websitesolution.com.
Step 2: Advise the administrative contact of your
domain that the name is being transferred. One Website Solution will email your
administrative contact by the next business day to request transfer approval.
Step 3: When this acceptance is received, One
Website Solution will send a transfer request to the Registry and then the
Registry will email your current registrar.
Step 4: Most likely, your current registrar will
send your administrative contact an email asking for your approval of the
transfer to One Website Solution. Please respond as directed.
Step 5: Your current registrar will send an
acceptance or rejection notice to the Registry and the Registry will email One
Website Solution a notice of the acceptance or rejection.
Step 6: One Website Solution will send you an
email informing you that the transfer is complete or has failed.
After One Website Solution has notified you that the transfer is
complete, log in to your account at http://www.1websitesolution.com/login.php and verify the
contact information for your domain.
Note: You are responsible for updating the administrative
contact’s email identified in the previous registrar’s WhoIs database.
Tip: Some registrars lock domain names to prevent unauthorized
transfers. Your domain name must be unlocked before the transfer can be
completed. You can usually unlock your domain name by logging into your account
at your current registrar, or by contacting their Customer Service department.
To retrieve your login information, visit us at http://www.1WebsiteSolution.com/login.php and
click the “Help me retrieve my password” link.
When you register a domain, your name, address, email address
and phone number are made available to anyone who wants to see it. Your
personal information is exposed 24 hours a day, everyday, to anyone, anywhere.
You have the power to change this. With a One Website Solution private
(“unlisted”) registration, registering a domain name doesn’t mean sacrificing
your privacy.
Your new or existing domain is registered in the name of Domains
By Proxy® (a One Website Solution affiliate company)—so their information is
made public—not yours. Your information stays private, but you retain full
benefits of domain registration. You can cancel, sell, renew or transfer your
domain; set-up name servers for your domain; and resolve disputes involving
your domain.

are who you say you are. By placing the Certified Domain seal on your Web site
and in your WhoIs display, you’ll tell them you are the legal originator of
your domain name. Visitors will come back again and again knowing that your
site is legitimate and backed by a Certified Domain. The validation process is
simple and can generally be completed in just 10 minutes!
If you’re thinking about selling your domain name—or

Putting a Web site on the Internet is
one of the most common uses for a domain name. A Web site can help you keep in touch
with family, friends or customers of your business. It can sell products or
services, improve customer service or simply expand your exposure into new
market areas.
There are many options when it comes
to building and hosting a Web site. With every One Website Solution domain
name, customers receive a free starter Web page. When you’re ready for more,
One Website Solution offers WebSite Tonight®, the perfect tool for clicking and

maintain a thriving online store, Quick Shopping Cart® offers
everything you will need. It makes selling goods and services on the Internet
easy and affordable. Everything you need is built right in: storefront and
catalog builders; hosting; payment methods; shipping options; tax calculation; inventory
management; reporting and more.
A web log (or “blog”) is similar to
an online journal. It’s designed to be easy to update and maintain—even if you
have no experience running a Web site. Any type of information can be presented
on a blog, from stories about a family vacation to in-depth commentary on
global events. In addition, most blogs allow visitors to post comments and
leave feedback for the person running the site, known as a “blogger.”
Every One Website Solution domain
name comes with a free ad-supported blog builder. For those who are interested
in additional disk space and bandwidth, One Website Solution also offers an
ad-free version of Quick Blogcast. The expanded version of Quick
Blogcast includes over 60 customizable templates, capacity for multiple blogs
and authors, email updates, built-in blog management tools, and both audio and
video podcast capabilities.

your photos online! Online Photo Filer gives you an online photo album

photos look their very best. You can also order high quality prints directly
from your album—and have them delivered right to your door! Best of all, Online
Photo Filer provides login-free photo sharing at your personal domain name*, so your
friends and family don’t have to hassle with signing up or logging in just to
view your pictures.

Hosting (also
known as Web site hosting or Web hosting) is the business of housing, serving
and maintaining files for one or more Web sites, and providing Internet access
(bandwidth). In a sense, you rent space on a computer to hold your Web site.
Your host, the computer where your Web site files are stored, assigns an
address (DNS) for your files to your domain name so that anyone can find your
Web site on the Internet by typing in your domain name. One Website Solution is
an excellent choice for Web hosting, providing customers with world-class
hosting and servers. Unlike many of its competitors, One Website Solution owns,
operates and supports the hosting plans and servers it provides, down to the
very last cable and disk. With One Website Solution, you’ll get fast,
dependable hosting and servers, 24/7 live customer support, unbeatable prices
and free access to our exclusive Hosting Community.
While our hosting plans are ideal for
most individuals and small businesses, our dedicated servers and virtual
dedicated servers are perfect for hosting multiple traffic-intensive Web sites
on one server, running enterprise or gaming applications, or operating
development environments. You have the option of purchasing a preconfigured
dedicated or virtual dedicated server plan or the flexibility to build your own
server.
In order to choose the right hosting
or server plan, you’ll need to consider a few things:
·
How was your Web site designed?
·
How much traffic or how many visitors
do you expect monthly?
·
How large is your site?
·
What Web applications will you need?
·
How many sites do you plan to host?
Visit www.1websitesolution.com/web_hosting.php to see which One Website Solution Hosting or Server Plan
works best for you.
There are principles fundamental to
Web design that you should keep in mind when creating your Web site:
Design for the lowest common
denominator. Remember that not every user—not even
the majority of users—have the fastest computer on the market with a 19- or
21-inch monitor. When designing your Web site, accommodate an 800x600-pixel
view and an average processor speed. In other words, don’t use a lot of large,
high-resolution graphics on a page that defaults to a 1600x1200-pixel view.
Ideally, your visitors should be able to see the whole page, or at least the
majority of the page, without having to scroll.
In addition, you don’t want your
visitors waiting five minutes for your graphics to load before they can view
the page. Try to keep your use of graphics or images to a minimum and optimize
file sizes as much as possible. Include images only where they support the
content of your page. Also, try not to include too many images on a single
page. If your pages take too long to load, it will discourage your visitors and
they may move on to a different Web site.
Use colors and fonts sparingly. Less is more with Web design. Stick with one or two
colors, three at the most, when designing your Web site. And remember that it
is easier on the eyes to read dark text on a light background than light text
on a dark background. Ideally, it is best to have black text on a white
background; the more contrast the better. It is also important to know that
Sans Serif fonts are easier to read on a computer screen than Serif fonts are.
(Serif fonts are typefaces that have “tails” on the letters, like Times New Roman
or Courier. Sans Serif fonts are typefaces that do not have “tails” like Arial
or Verdana.) On a computer screen, Serif fonts usually appear blurry,
especially in smaller font sizes. Choose one Sans Serif font type and stick
with it throughout your site.
Organization and navigation. Arrange your pages and links in a logical flow so your
visitors can make their way around your site without getting lost or having to
search for additional information. Navigational menus help visitors jump
quickly from page to page or find their way back to a page they previously
viewed. One important rule: Don’t move the location of your navigation on each
page, forcing the visitor to look for it.
Give your visitors relevant content. Visitors come to your site looking for content they
believe they will find on your site. If your domain name has the word “cats” in
it and your content is all about kitchen appliances, your visitors will not
return.
